What Reader Says
This book is a heartwarming story about a young goblin named Ryen who brings superpower strength to children when scary things happen to their body.
Little Matthew and Little Diane both need blood to get well. Ryen Ryen the Hemogoblin knows it’s hard to overcome fear but tells them that they, too, are strong to do what is needed.
The story is written in a rhyming pattern with colorful illustrations. It includes two coloring pages for younger children, and a word search for older children. There is also a page to write and share a time when you were afraid and did something scary anyway.
I highly recommend this book for anyone who has a child scared to go through a medical procedure so that can see they are able to do scary things and are not alone.

I bought this book for our mental health clinic’s library. What a wonderful book to help children face their fears around medical procedures. I love how the story teaches children the importance of self talk, and that it’s ok to be scared but we can do scary things anyway. I wish I had this book when I was a child going through scary medical scenarios.

Inspiring story of a goblin who requires blood transfusions. Taking care of Ryen Ryen's health leads to adventures. Kids who spend time in hospitals, and their friends, see the importance of being strong and brave in the face of adversity. Beautiful illustrations complement Ryen Ryen's story.
